Common Core Math 6 and Common Core Math 6 Plus
Welcome to math as a sixth grader! I look forward to a fun and exciting year filled with learning and implementing some great technology. It is my goal that all students develop the skills in math so that those skills are applicable to real life situations. Below you will find valuable information that will help you succeed in my class. Please let me know if there are any questions.

On our website, you will find a copy of this syllabus, daily assignments, and any announcements you may need to know about.
You can use the student agenda as a method of contact as well.
Technology:
Text messages from the teacher:
You will receive a code to text to (919)246-4223. You will receive reminders and alerts from me for projects, assignments, and other important news. (You will not be able to reply-but you may email or send in a note in the agenda)
Cell phones: IN MY CLASS ONLY, (Other teachers WILL take cellphones if they are out)
Students will have the opportunity to utilize Smartphones the “smart” way! Students will take quizzes, assessments, use QR scanners to locate websites for assignments, and more.
Applications: We will download these together in class- with signed permission form
QR code scanner or any Scanner App
Socrative (testing/assessment application)
Agenda:
All students are required to have their agenda at all times. The agenda is for recording daily assignments, homework for classes, and bathroom pass. In addition, the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens information are embedded within the pages.
Daily Procedures:
Students are expected to arrive to class on time. This means that students will need to take care of any other business BEFORE the bell rings.
Students will be expected to bring all supplies to class, including agendas.
1. Students enter the room quietly and copy “SWAB” –Students will be able to…” and homework into their agendas.
2. Warm-up and Housekeeping (turn in homework, permission slips, etc.)
3. Students will have 3 to 4, 20 minute rotations, direct instruction, and independent work time.
4. At the end of class students will complete an exit ticket by smartphone/computer/paper
Classroom Expectations
PRIDE- Students will be expected to follow PRIDE in the classroom, in hallways, bathroom, cafeteria, and common areas. Please review PBIS information daily with your child for the first two weeks of school and as needed throughout the year. Discuss ways to show PRIDE and consequences.
Supplies:
· Black Composition Book
· Notebook paper
· One 1” 3-ring binder
· Pencils
Grading:
A- 100-93 B 92-85 C 84-77 D 76-70 F 69-60
Late Work Policy:
Students are able to turn in any late work up to two weeks before the end of the quarter. Until the work is turned in students will receive a L for Late. If students do not turn in work they will receive a 60 for the assignment. The highest grade you may receive on any late assignment is an 80.
*Students must turn in notes for all absences.
